My name is Monica Cabarca,s and I have 15 years of experience in education.  I am a licensed secondary English teacher and K-12 reading specialist in the state of Virginia.  My professional experiences include: middle school language arts teacher, literacy specialist, instructional coach (across all content areas), adjunct instructor of content area reading, and high school media specialist.  I am passionate about helping our students succeed in high school and beyond.  The highlight of my day is matching the right book to the right reader, partnering with our teachers, or helping  a student access information efficiently.  I am always interested in the changing landscape of education and enjoy looking outside of my field for new ideas.  This is my second year as a co-librarian at Albemarle High School, and I post some of our day-to-day experiences on my Twitter account @Edcoach4change. Since our school is quite large, we have two fully staffed media specialist positions.  As I embark on my journey as a librarian, Erica Thorsen is co-librarian, veteran media specialist, and daily reflective  partner.  You can follow her on Twitter @ethorsenahs or visit her blog at:  http://patslibrarystacks.blogspot.com/

  1. Monica you have such a great blog overall! It is very inviting, and eye pleasing. I like the way you tuck things into the Archives by month and how you have categorized the tools. I hope to be as ‘blog’ literate like this someday!
